Regular Season
I. Registry
Each late week of registry counts as a 50 point deduction.
Registry will be completely closed after the deadline for Week 3's
guesses.
II. Guessing the Weather
Temperature guesses will be done in Fahrenheit degrees and should be
entered in the correct form.
Guess the Weather forms indicate the dates and cities the player
will be guessing for.
III. Regular Season
Will consist of five (5) weeks of guessing the high and low
temperatures for cities located within the United States.
Guesses are due approximately 11 days in advance or more of the actual
weather.
Forecasts can be looked at.
Current Season:
Anchorage, Alaska
Death Valley, California
Biloxi, Mississippi
Augusta, Maine
Phoenix, Arizona
Scoring
Scores will start out from 0, and the value of a perfect day is
worth 20 points.
Each degree missed will be a deduction of 1 point.
Perfect Week Score:
100
Missed Weeks
Each 'missed week' of guesses after registry counts as scores of:
First Miss: -100, Second Miss: -200, ...and continued.
Late Guessing
You may guess after the deadline and up until the actual weather
occurs, but a 2 point deduction per degree missed will be incurred,
instead of 1.
Excused absences will be granted if known or determined in advanced.
Only one week will be considered excused, and the rest will count as
'missed weeks'.
The top 3 in the regular season will receive medals based on
position.
The Top 50% of the field of players will make the playoffs.
IV. Playoffs
(The Top 50% of the field of players will make the playoffs)
The final number of players to make the playoffs is determined at the
deadline for Week 3's guesses.
In the case of an odd number of players (example: 21), the Top 50% in
Integer Math (10) plus 1 (11) will move on.
Guesses will be due approximately one week before the actual weather
happens.
Players may look at forecasts.
Structure
The playoffs will consist of three (3) weeks involving guessing the
high and low temperatures for global cities.
Each week, approximately the bottom third will be eliminated.
Missing a week will likely result in elimination due to the competitive
nature of the playoffs.
Scoring
Scores will start out from 0, and the value of a perfect day
doubles to 40.
Each degree missed will be a deduction of 3 points.
A bonus of 2 points will be added per exact guess of High or Low
temperature.
Perfect Week Score: (200 day points + 50 bonus points) =
250
The winner of the playoffs will win the
Guess the Weather League
Trophy!
