Chris Kennedy fixes DJ Sterf's Laptop!
After my Windows XP crashed worse than Rip Van Winkle, I was pretty frustrated.
First off, I have a bunch of deadlines I'm trying to make with the stuff
on my computer (one of em is March 25 for the DJ Sterf Album!), and second
off, Sony didn't provide anything to boot with. They did provide a System
Restore CD, but that deletes all of the hard drive first! UG! So...SuperChris
comes to the rescue. We took apart my laptop, first the wrong way, then
the right way. Then, he went and got a Mini-IDE convertor to hook up my
Laptop hard drive to his PC and he got all the data off my hard drive and
onto CDs. Pretty cool, eh?! So MAJOR thanks to Chris Kennedy, and may God
bless him as he continues to fix sickly computers (I didn't try having an
exorcism with my Sony VAIO Laptop...maybe I should)!

No specific goals right now, while I'm still catching up in school and
working on the CD, etc. If I get 10 chapters in, and I spend quality time
on them, then that's a good day.

Waking Up (Journal)
(03.31.03) So I'm 20 tomorrow...been an interesting year. I still wish
I were on campus and have some other deeper wishes too, but they'll be resolved
sometime, I hope. I can't wait to graduate! Double major + minor + lots
of summer hours + CD + Bible study + book + basketball + teenz4theLord +
website + 4.222 semester GPA + 18 hours Fall + hanging out with friends +
funerals + RezRock = part of the last few months and new stuff involved,
especially. Graduating would help that load out a bunch. But then I guess
Seminary...ug, I really don't want to spend even 2 years (it prob. will be
4) in post-collegiate education. My brain already hurts, and I hate reading
still. Why can't they just give me a slip of paper that says I'm kinda witty.
That'd be enough for my tastes. Oh, well... DJ STERF THE ALBUM!!!!!!!!!
YA HEARD???!!!
(03.29.03) I went to Kanki tonight. Ug...that food made me want to puke!
It's like...they gave me this soup. That made me want to puke. Then they
came out with this salad that also made me want to puke. It was as if they
thought it was cool to bring out new food-torture devices! Sheesh! Anyway,
I didn't puke, thank the Lord. My birthday is in 3 days (April 1st). Today,
I also went to NC State Campus to have a 'Bible study' with a guy from my
Hebrew class (James). I think he thinks we disagree on a lot of what we
actually agree on. I'm not sure though, lol. Anyway, it's cool in Aramaic,
the Lord's Prayer is a pretty good mnemonic device with some rhyme in it.
The DJ Sterf is ready for order, and I've already received some. Ryan,
I haven't received the mail yet, and I expect to early next week. Remember
that Snail Mail can take up to 7 days! (Especially during war time) Other
than that, I'm really tired right now. At Crabtree, Chris and I played some
DDR. I played some tough songs (Maniac level), and it's always funny. There's
always a woman watching that looks aghast. I don't know if she's IFB (Independent
Fundamental Baptist) or if she's having a heart attack or if she's amazed!
The expression kinda puts a bit of ambiguity to it. Oh, well... Chris
and I are "dance heroes" (oh, brother). God bless, and have a good night!
Shout out to Freak Monster for the best chicken game!
(03.28.03) Whelp, the DJ Sterf CD is coming out today for order. The store
release date will be in April, after I turn 20 (on the 1st). A lady from
Sign of the Fish wants me to come in and promote my CD: have CD signings,
have a store display of DJ Sterf CDs, etc. hahaha! I thought she was joking
at the start, but she wasn't! Anyway, it's up for order on this site, and
will be available in-store at Sign of the Fish in Raleigh and Garner soon.
We'll see what happens from there. A few of the songs I think are just
horrible, but most of them I really like. There should be about 20-22 tracks
(I'm still considering whether to add a select few). For my birthday, my
parents want to take me out...literally...to eat, that is! I may go to Kanki,
this Japanese eatery, but then again, I may just go to O'Charley's, where
it's more low-key and "high class" if there is such a thing in Cary. Here
in Cary, you have a bunch of wannabe-aggressive drivers and an increase in
population of about 7% a year! It's nutso here, and the traffic is no exception!
Even the PEOPLE are sometimes nutso here! Or maybe that's just me....
School is going pretty well. It looks as if I may pull 3 A+'es and 2 A's.
The 2 A's will be in my Major classes, which stink, because my Major GPA
is lower than my Cumulative GPA. In that scenario, I'd be at:
Cumulative GPA: 3.990
Communications Major GPA: 3.941
Religious Studies Major GPA: 4.333 (counts as 4.000)
Computer Science Minor GPA: 4.333 (counts as 4.000)
Stupid communications.... I guess I'm not good at communicating!
Below is a link to some family pictures taken at my grandmother's funeral.
If you didn't know, she passed on to be with the Lord Jesus in late February,
2003. Her faith was in the Son of God, the Lord Jesus Christ, who was Crucified
for our sins and rose again, conquering death & hell.
More info on that...

God bless, fo sho.
(03.25.03) For all those who are wondering (as in all 2 of you...), I'm
clearing this page and putting it as an archive for March, 2003. Then it's
time for April - my birthday! Anyway, my GPA is back up to a 4.0 this semester
as of now, since I pulled an A+ on a big essay in COM 250! I also got a
100 on my Java exam. If you haven't checked out the music section yet, check
it out. I have a bunch of new songs since I last mentioned it, and the CD
is out March 28. Preacher Gary has been out at NC State for the past two
days, and today was kind of slow. If you don't know who 'Preacher Gary'
is, he's a holiness preacher who tours statewide, and sometimes nationwide,
to college campuses, and street preaches. I need to do that again sometime
soon. It's really nice out, and it's Spring now, so I don't have any excuse
not to. People hate Gary's guts for the most part, and it's really disheartening
to see other Christians arguing and yelling at him. Why not just start a
small-group discussion? One guy who I really enjoy watching around Gary
is this guy named Greg. He's been a Christian for 5 months and does just
that -- starts a small group discussion. I say don't mess with the man of
God if he truly is a man of God, and let God lead you into your own actions.
"The wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God" - see James 1:19
and 20 if you don't believe me! On an aside...Don't you hate it when you're
on AIM and you have a buddy on your list, because you're decent friends with
him, but you never IM each other? Oh, well...must be some "sociological
phenomenon". Isn't "everything"? I "don't know". Think of the word 'coincidence'.
It means 'more than one event happening at the same time.' Ooh. Real tricky
there.... I do believe that God has a plan in everything, though, and it's
not dumb luck that things happen. If it were up to dumb luck, our feet would
probably be located around our stomach area instead of the good design of
on the floor, where we can reach the ground to walk. I'm gonna write a song
about 6-day Creationism and send it to Answers in Genesis, and see if they'd
play it. That'd be hot. Ok, so check out the music section NOW. God bless!
(03.22.03) I didn't get to 180 tonight since my parents were afraid I'd
get bombed or whatnot by war protesters around that area of campus. I recorded
2 new singles fully today, too. Anyway, I'm pretty tired. I think I'll
get to bed. God bless!
(03.21.03) Here was the email I sent concerning yet ANOTHER grade mix-up
this semester...
Concerning the Grade for Program 2:
Two days before the Extra Credit Submission, my grandmother lost consciousness
in her house in Indiana. On that Saturday, my family and I drove up to Indiana
and got a call mid-way that she had died. The whole next week until the
Sunday after the late submission date, we planned the funeral, had the funeral,
and cleaned up after the funeral. With that said, I submitted my code before
the Extra Credit Submission date (you can check that, too). I am pretty
sure it was Friday (but it could have been two days prior, on Wednesday)
that I got a clean run through the code checker on John Owens' computer,
and I got everything submitted. I cleared the two absences (the Tuesday
and Thursday I missed) with Jason via email when I fully found out about
my grandmother's death, as well as before the first class I was back, which
was the Tuesday after the late submission date. There was no tangible way
for me to turn in the FSM before then, and I did turn my FSM in the day I
was back in NC to clear it fully with Jason. With the excused/cleared absences
taken into account, and given I didn't submit the code in the wrong folder
(which I'm pretty sure I didn't do), this grade should be a 105. Once again,
thanks for your time and consideration.
God bless,
- Sterling F. [scfrankl]
I'm seriously tired of getting every grade checked and changed this
semester. It's seriously a pattern this semester. It's been about 4 weeks
since I took the COM 250 test, too, and I still haven't gotten a grade back
yet. In my COM 202 class, I missed a quiz while I was away at my grandmother's
funeral. It shows up as a 0 on my grade sheet right now. Anyway, this is
the beauty of going to NC State University. I don't want to be here, anyway.
I can't wait to graduate....
I guess on a more positive note, the DJ Sterf Album will be out soon.
The order form (pre-order) is online right now. The CD will be $8 for about
20 tracks or so and will come with a free Single to give out to unsaved friends.
My professor for New Testament, Dr. Adler, has even seen some of this
site now! He was about to play a song, but the volume didn't work. I was
about to crack up and was thinking 'this is so embarrassing!' It'd be cool
if he heard it, though.
The beard is gettin pretty dark, and I'm not sure if I'll keep it much
longer. It looks alright, but I honestly like being clean-shaven better...for
now, at least.
Here are some rough lyrics and plans for a song that I'm about to record
tomorrow (hopefully):
I Need
a New Start. It's like the Sinner's Prayer with some words of ministry
put to a song. It's pretty tight!
Finally, congratulations to the High Rollas, who won their 2nd consecutive
NC State Intramural basketball championship. I still want a rematch from
the game I missed against you guys! You wouldn't have won by 78 if I were
playing! Probably only 40!
(03.19.03) Today, I went to Danny McGregor's funeral. It was nice to see
a ton of friends from high school, but it was sad that we met at a time like
that. The service seemed very uncertain, but with a faded Gospel message.
There were a few times that I thought the preacher was inappropriate (for
one, he made a rude joke and nobody laughed), but other than that... Mr.
McGregor had a bunch of gashes on his forehead, and a big gauze on the top
of his head. He wore a stocking cap over it. The McGregors seem to be taking
it in stride, but they seem so frail at times. Keep 'em in prayer for sure.
We lost our b-ball game by 5. Ug... Jared was lighting it up from outside
today! It was the heat. I have a big Java test tomorrow, so I better start
studying! I could pull a C+ to an A with this program and test. God bless...
(03.18.03) Steven's sitting right next to me and it's about 12:30 am. My
computer is fixed, my Java program is almost done, but I still have a ton
of reading to do in catching up. I am going to a funeral tomorrow, though,
for a friend from high school who died in a car crash on Saturday. Not too
much of a day...just worked a ton on schoolwork, got sick of doing so and
came home and asked Steven to come over. Everything will get done on time,
I'm pretty sure. Just gotta record some more songs soon. March 25...I think,
hehe. God bless...
(03.15.03) So XP wanted to update and it crashed halfway through. Now my
computer won't boot. Ug...I'm on my old computer right now, and thank the
Lord I got all my website files online before it crashed. I still have a
ways to go, and some of my files are not backed up on my usual computer.
My bud Chris is gonna come over and try to help fix it. I think all I need
is an XP Home CD to boot it and then back up everything. That's all I need
to do and then I can reformat anything I want.... However, with my Sony Laptop
(don't buy one!), they provided a 3-CD set of system restore tools. The
catch is: You can't keep your data! It just returns to factory settings
when you run that. I want to actually KEEP my stuff. I was putting a book
together, ya know.... Most of the stuff is online, but not all of it. Two
new DJ Sterf songs are also not backed up on there, and all the music I've
written is also on there. Ug....So pray that I don't lose any data, and I'll
be very happy! I got to 6 chapters yesterday, and I'm at 6 so far today.
Today I guess is catch-up day for schoolwork. I caught up mostly the week
before Spring Break, but I gotta get crackin' on my work that I still need
catching up on. I have a C+ in Java right now, and if I bring that up to
an A- or better, that would help my GPA greatly! Anyway, you have a great
day and God bless you! Check out the Prayer Board!
(03.14.03) Basically done with the original part of DJ Sterf.com. Now
I have to add details here and there. I will probably put this site
into submission for awards sites just for laughs sometime soon. Guess
the Weather League starts April 7, 2003. It'll be off the heezy fo sheezy.
I only got to 7 chapters yesterday, but we'll see where I get today.
Hope you are doing well. I added a really neat feature to this
site - the
Prayer Board - so check it out! God bless you.
(03.13.03) Put up a new single last night on the Music page - it's HOTTT,
with three 'T's! Let's see...yesterday I put up the main page for the
Bible study center, a few 2BC'n pages, a rough draft of the Features page,
and some more pages just to fill in the fact that I'm GONNA get to it! I
did get to 10 chapters in the Bible yestrerday. Today I'm hoping for
9 - James and Philippians. That'd be the heat. Maybe I'll add
in another Psalm and make it 10. Who knows? (...God does) I
hope to have a streetball game soon. STORM THE COURT, IT'S OVAH!!!
Keep in prayer one unspoken for a friend of mine, and still comfort for
my family, especially my grandma's children. Have a good day and God
bless you!
(03.12.03) Without assistance, I typically wake up between 9:45 and 10:45
am. Spring break is nice. I don't have to wake up at 7:30 for
class! I have yet to catch up on my schoolwork, though, and I need
to do that. Making a website is tough work, and I'm trying to get up
as much as I possibly can as soon as possible! I still have to record
some songs for the album, even today, because I only have six in the bag now.
My family is still recovering from the mourning of the loss of Rita
Cuffey, my grandmother, but it is her gain, and she is with the Lord now.
I missed a week of college, and that threw me back a bit, but it's
worth it, and God got me through last week in making up a ton of stuff, because
I couldn't have done that myself! Anyway, more updates on this site
are going to be up as the week progresses. Pray for my sister Stacia's
mother-in-law Madge, who has an infection in her arm (swollen and in the
hospital), and my friend Jason, who has nephritis right now. Other than
that, comfort for my family, and pray for all those who are seeking, that
they will find. God bless!
