My teacher for Sociology of the
Family claims to be a
TV addict. We'll see how that affects his attention span.
He
doesn't want to lecture for the full 90-minutes for every day of the
week,
so he's not going to! |

Some reading from... 1 John Hebrews Psalms 1 Timothy Ecclesiastes 2 Kings 2 Chronicles Acts ...and Bible on tape doesn't count for reading. |
Cool Passages Psalm 70:4 - Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: and let such as love thy salvation say continually, Let God be magnified. Hebrews 1:10 - And, Thou, Lord, in the beginning hast laid the foundation of the earth; and the heavens are the works of thine hands. 1 John 5:20 - And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. - Bible IQ I. Proposal Bible IQ - Java Applet project to be featured on DJ Sterf.Com Games for online play. A pool of common (and not-so-common) Bible knowledge trivia, this will be a fairly well-standardized test if I do it right. II. Procedure 1. Write up a pool of Bible questions of varying degrees of difficulty. 2. Try to pick as random a sample as possible to take the test. 3. Gauge the 'common difficulty' of each question on a float scale of 0-10. 4. Make the average question difficulty on the test near a 6.67. 5. Program the GUI and hard-code in the questions to eliminate first-time cheating. III. Goals 1. Make the test ceiling a 150 and the floor 'Peanut Butter'. 2. Make the design as appealing as possible. |

Tuesday, I went to FunWerks with some friends and ended up with I guess
1 fan. Some hot blonde chick probably about 17 or 18.
Moving on up! After I played a pretty hard song, she told a girl
next to her 'this guy is my new best friend!' Then when she left,
she came back and waved goodbye. Yeah yeah! One of these
days I'll pick up some 80-year old or somethin'. The last few days of school have really got me irritated. I'm working my butt off in both my classes and ending up with nothing to show for it. I may end up with an A and an A- instead of an A+ and A. If so, I'll feel that this summer was a complete waste. If I finish this summer with only a 4.00, my goals will not be helped any -- I'll still need 3 A+'es to get a 4.00 cumulative -- and I'll be really mad that I burned out for no observable reason. Vacation Bible School starts next week. I'm teaching the ENTIRE 1st and 2nd grade classes, which essentially is what turned out last year. Mrs. Sackmann only had about 8 or 9 kids due to a misplacement of most of the kids (I ended up with 19). Hopefully NEW kids will come this time instead of everyone from the church and then 2 visitors total. Life is just a bunch of discouragements, isn't it? If we go through life with optimism, we have to be crazy at some point to do so. (07.22.03) I'm tarred. Time for some sleep! I hope you like the new design. I gotta put up a store first, then revamp this page, then revamp the vampire. Then, he'll try to bite my neck, but that would stink. Man! I'm already starting to dream! Speech later today, gotta focus. God bless! (07.15.03) Last month, I was sitting in the mall waiting for Steven show up for his 'birthday meal'. I thought it'd be a nice idea to buy lunch, etc. for him on his birthday. When I was sitting there, I looked over about 5 tables diagonally to see these 2 girls. They quickly looked away and giggled. I looked away, then a few seconds looked back and saw them snap a picture of me. They chuckled and left soon after. Yeah...you know I got it like that! It would be better, though, if they were over 16 or 17. Girls with cams can be dangerous, though. If they saw a cute animal in the middle of the road, they'd try to find their camera to take its picture...while they're driving! Hey, at least they'll be driving better that way...<smack!> Yeah...you know I don't got it like that! School is a green-eyed monster this session. Last session, I took two classes that only believed in full-blown tests. In effect, I could spend time 'chillaxing' if I was tired of schoolwork a few days. However, this session is the complete opposite! The only test in COM 301 is at the end and consists of 10% of the final grade. Am I on a different planet?! I must be...I'm reading 30 pages of Sociology a night and having to take notes on it, as well. All I had to do with Psychology is read 100 pages the night before and get one point per page on the tests since he went over everything during class in the first place (hahaha...he had fill-in-the blank PowerPoint slides. It worked well for me!). To boot, I had 4 extra credit points for perfect attendance in there. I just finished my resume rough draft for COM 301. Got a speech Thursday (lots of preparation to do), resume due Friday, essay (not too long, though) in Sociology due Friday, and project proposal due Monday. So after Monday, I'm semi-set...sort of. Until then, I'm Mr. Hyde. God bless, and ttyl! (07.14.03) Just in case you were wondering, here is a page with detailed stats on the sub-popularity of DJ Sterf.Com after the first three months (ended June 10...yes, June): 3 Month Report. I'm about ready to go bowling again, so I'm going to type pretty fast to try to beat Mike here. Ever play the game Pearls Before Swine 3? I can beat Juan about 65% of the time now. We'll see how I can improve. If you were wondering...yes, it does have a sort of pattern to it. A few exceptions, but a definite pattern for the most part. I took my first test in Sociology today. It was one of those tests where the teacher tried to 'dumb it down' for everyone and making the questions less-than-optimal in nature. I had about 8 questions I was going to ask him, but I weeded them down to 4 before I raised my hand. I think he thinks I'm paranoid now. Oh, well. We'll see how well I did soon! This summer session is freakin' me out! Anyway, Mike's here, so I'm going to go bowling now. Hope you all have a great day & God bless you! (07.10.03) I have a bunch of stories on the notepad next to my laptop. Some of my friends think that these are codewords and controversies are associated with them. Nah...they're just things to talk about next on Everyday Life. Wow...planning just for you...and me...! I went down to Atlanta for July 4 weekend. My sister Stacia was in a group that opened for Sandi Patty. The mic setup wasn't the greatest, so parts of the solos sounded muffled and the group sounded too loud at times. She owned it, though. She just does that, anyway, though. It runs in the family.... The last visit, my sister Sybelle came and gave Natalie this JUMBO bunny (called 'Blue'), so I didn't give Natalie the much-smaller purple/orange bunny (kinda iridescent) until this visit. So Natalie gets the bunny, and her mom (Stacia) asks her, "What do you think he should be named?" "GASHER!" "Thrasher?" "No...GAAAAAASHER!!!" So my niece Natalie wanted to call the bunny 'Gasher'. Oh, boy...1) I've got a weird family, and 2) We better throw away the violent video games before Natalie finds them -- this one's a case! :) My sister talked Natalie into naming him July instead of Gasher, though, so that's now his name. My speech was total ownage...but I got a 93, so I have to do even better next time for an A+. Gotta get an earlier start this time. Well...enjoy the new design of DJ Sterf.Com and God bless America and you. (07.08.03) This is going on my speech tomorrow...enough said... (07.03.03) Happy pre-4th of July! I'm going to Atlanta to see my sister Stacia and a group she's singing with open for Sandi Patty (a pretty big...yet old...Christian contemporary music artist). For your enjoyment, read the July 2nd journal and check out the fireworks online! (07.02.03) Did everyone else know that there's a Guestbook? Maybe a newer design of the webpage will make that more apparent. Eugene just found out. Anyway, it's the month of the year where Americans tend to consistently get nationalistic...for a few days. Then it's back to the humdrum of everyday existence...lots of fun. Consider what a FREE nation we live in. It's not necessarily moral anymore...well, it's nearly not at all...but we're not killed for 'expressing ourselves'...just look at Eminem! In most Eastern cultures, the blade of grass that sticks up the highest is always cut down. No social deviance is allowed, and a counterculture is only turned around 180 degrees. Enter America...we have Goths, porn models, skinheads, and straight-edgers. I would think that the 'subcultures' would enjoy July the 4th very much. Not always true, but they should appreciate it. Any other country would halt them before they dyed their hair like last year's Christmas tree! Freedom of Expression usually has a price tag attached. In God we trust, United we stand. It's not just 'United we stand...'. The whole reason the Pilgrims voyaged over on their 66-day trek was for freedom to worship the Lord. It wasn't for money that they sweated it out, and it wasn't for the sheer effect of today's spaghetti reality show, but for the sake of True Freedom. The same Freedom was strengthened through the Revolutionary War, as the rallying cry "we will have no king but King Jesus!" sounded out from colony to colony. King George didn't win that war, either! Though America has had ups and downs, we're truly a blessed nation. Keep these verses in mind: 2 Chronicles 7:14 - If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. (Context here is that if disaster strikes on account of wickedness, live by this message from God!) Psalm 9:17 - The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God. (Thankfully only about 15% of Americans consistently voted to take out 'In God we trust...' out of our Pledge of Allegiance.) Though as many holidays, Independence Day is celebrated once a year and then forgotten, the principle of our thanksgiving should remain throughout the year for the God-given rights and freedoms that this nation was founded on and for some part still stands. So...God bless, and happy Independence Day, now and throughout the year! View All Entries for June, 2003 |
